Citrus Candle DIY

What Pinterest Showed Me
(Note: the website said you can use any kind of citrus fruit)

What I did:

I used a grapefruit, a knife, a lighter, a bowl and spoon, and some vegetable oil

Slice the grapefruit in half exactly like this. Notice I'm cutting across the middle of the grapefruit and not straight up and down the stem line.

See!

Now pick a half. It doesn't matter which half really. I picked the one on the right though because it was bigger.

Now you have to start cutting both of them along the edges very VERY carefully

This was one of the hardest parts

Spoon out as much of the guts into the bowl as you can.

Peel out the rest. BE CAREFUL NOT TO PEEL THE STEM OUT!

Gosh, I made a mess

Do the same for the other half of the grapefruit, only it's okay to peel out the stem.

Stop and eat the guts of the grapefruit (:

I let it sit in the window overnight to dry out

The next day, I poured a small amount of vegetable oil into the half with the stem.....

...Like this!

I placed it near the sink to be safe and....

NOTHING!!!

So I dumped the oil out and rinsed the peel

...and I placed it in the toaster oven for a good hour total

Safety first!

Meanwhile, cut out a circle in the other half. This is supposed to serve as a lid.

Take the grapefruit out of the oven and try to light it once more...

...still nothing.

I really nailed it this time....

Nailed it!
